Hi, I'm Mallika Narayanan and I design websites.

My focus is to provide creative services to produce current, vibrant and young but mainly, functional user-interfaces.

I love all things design. I also love to sing, cook and occasionally photograph and paint.
Here lies a collection of my work, a few Photographs I've clicked & my design strategy.

Here's to unchartered territories..

I yearn for something unique. Something that breaks out of mirrored thoughts, predictable posts and regurgitated ideas.

My search is on for simplicity and back to basics. Here's an idea: take a long walk, and take inspiration from something fresh.

I truly feel that this is the time to re-invent.

A lil' about me

After graduating in Economics and marketing in 1999, I immediately started working for E-Valueshops.com and was glad to be part of a really cool working atmosphere.

 

Working as lead designer with E-Valueshops gave me the opportunity to work on projects that involved direct communication with clients to have a better understanding of clients needs. Working both as a solo artist, as well as part of the team, gave me the exposure to a working culture and company that I loved being a part of.

 

Since 2002, I've been self-employed as a freelance Web Designer and have worked on e-commerce based sites, personal business venture sites as well as personal websites of some really talented musicians.

 

Being creatively inclined from a very young age, I remember spending most summers Drawing, Painting, Tile & Fabric Painting and taking lots and lots of Photographs. Not formally trained in Photography, I only consider myself to be an amateur (although I do intend taking lessons in both, photography and painting, at some point).

 

In my free time, I enjoy long walks along Minnesota's many lakes, Cooking, Singing, Reading a killer mystery book, Watching thrillers and action movies and Travelling.

 

I currently live in Minneapolis, with my lovely husband Vivek.

Well, If for some reason I have to stop designing Websites, I know that there would pretty much be only one thing left for me to do : COOK

I simply love cooking and experiment with Asian, Italian, American, French and Mediterranean cuisines. Since my best guinea pig (Vivek) is a foodie I get the opportunity to go all out and try any kind of cuisine.

 

Rather this, than Shut eye.

I'm aware that people usually put up a list of latest books they're reading, here.

But I find that there are so many books that I THINK I've read but haven't actually, that the list here is categorized into a 'catching up' list, a 'dream' list and a 'favs' list.

Catching up list: Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol, The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton

Dream list: Shakespeare's Sonnets

Favs list: Aunt's aren't Gentlemen by P.G.Woodhouse, Harry Potter 1-6 by J.K.Rowling

Vagabond is a name I've heard, to describe me once :) and the happy thing: it's true. The places I've seen so far are, all places I absolutely adore. But the list of places I still want to see, is sadly, LONGER.
